Spot illumination module consists of optics, dichroic mirror and a light guide.

The spot illumination module allows spot illumination of a spot in the center of the field of view (and simultaneous full field illumination, except when ordering it with a 100% mirror). Spot size depends on diameter of light guide, magnification of objective and microscope. When ordering please specify approximate spot size requested and magnification of objective. Please make sure that objectives, optics and filters of the microscope transmit/reflect the desired wavelengths. Most long distance IR objectives cannot be used for any spot illumination.

We strongly recommend not combining a flash lamp system with a
spot illumination module. For applications requiring a rather small spot a light guide with a small diameter is needed and only a small amount of light can be coupled into a light guide with a small diameter. The flash lamp is not a point source and emits light in almost 360° resulting in a light output that is not sufficient for the majority of experiments.
